My name is Marlon Barrios Solano, I am an experimental online producer, researcher, lecturer and consultant on collaborative technologies and open knowledge strategies. I am based in New York (USA)  but I travel a lot.


I am the creator and producer of dance-tech.net (this social networking site), dance-techTV and of the dance-tech@ (interviews and documentaries). I  am also the curator of Choreography or ELSE: Contemporary Experiments on the Performance of Motion for dance-tech.tv.

My bio (in third person):

Marlon Barrios Solano (Venezuela/USA) works as an independent new media artist, researcher, on-line producer, professional nomad, vlogger, consultant, educator and curator.

With a hybrid background in movement and new media arts, organizational development, and cognitive science, he researches and create platforms for the development of open and sustainable models of knowledge production and distribution among trans-local communities and organizational contexts.

He is the executive director of Dance-tech Interactive llc, a consulting, education and development firm on:

  • On-online/off-line collaborative technologies/methods
  • Social media and hyper-media  for the artists and cultural managers
  • networked/collaborative creativity and interactive tools for knowledge production, generation  and distribution
  • Open Space technologies and interactive learning for collaboration and innovation
  • Performance, communication and ecology
  • Post-pc technologies for collaboration and creation
  • Collaborative spaces for/in the performing arts

He is the creator/producer/curator of:

  • dance-tech.net, a social networking site and community
  • dance-techTV, a collaborative internet video channel dedicated to innovation and experimental performing arts
  • grid_lab and embedded_vlogger: art/life/new media/ecology labs on knowledge production and distribution strategies within art venues and festivals.
  • Choreography or ELSE: an online collection/online mentoring platform on contemporary exploration on the performance of movement.

He is a lecturer for the Masters on Performance Practices and Visual Culture for the Universidad de Alcala (Spain). Marlon is also associate producer for DanceDigital(UK). He is a researcher in residency for PAF Performing Arts Forum (France).

As a professional dancer in New York City, he performed nationally and internationally with Susan Marshal and Dancers (1997-2000), Lynn Shapiro Dance Company (1995-1998), and with the choreographers Merian Soto, Dean Moos, Bill Young, among others. He also performed with the musicians John Zorn, Philip Glass and Eric Friedlander.

Under Unstablelandscape (2003-07), he performed and researched improvisational performances within digital real-time environments performing in the US and Europe.

He holds an MFA in Dance and Technology 2004 (real-time digital technology, performance of improvisation and cognition) from The Ohio State University, USA.

This is my bio:
I am a Venezuelan dance/media artist, social media specialist/researcher and on-line producer based in New York City since 1994.

I work as a New Media/On-line Marketing Specialist for Dance New Amsterdam and as a consultant on social media, collaborative creativity and social innovation for many art organizations in the US and abroad. I am also the creator/producer of dance-tech.net a social networking site focused on innovation on the performance of movement arts and of DANCE TECH, an on-line program that explores the intersection of cutting edge digital technology and the performing arts syndicated by TenduTV.

As a new media designer, I have collaborated with musicians, choreographers, dancers, architects, theater artists, community organizations and other new media artists. I have also lectured extensively on dance and technology, interactive media, embodiment, social software, open knowledge and social innovation.

From Cointrin airport to Cornavin station (A)

Take any train at the Swiss Railways Geneva Airport station as they all stop by at Geneva Cornavin station downtown. It takes 4 minutes to get downtown from the airport station.

You can get a free public transportation ticket at a machine located in the baggage claim area, that will allow you to ride that train and any other bus for the following 60 minutes.…

just got... almost back. still a bus ride. sometimes i wonder what the f_ im doing way out in the styx. have a fun week -- i just wanted to ask: what is the best way for me to leave comments for everyone.? is there there a central message board? and also, is there an evaluation process in place? finally, is there an "internal" place for this as well?
please forgive my network-ignorance! im sure id get it if my french were a little stronger...
