profesional contemporary dance training in the Lake Geneva region
Balbir Singh Dance Company seeks male contemporary dancers for Decreasing Infinity.
Balbir Singh, one of the UK’s leading choreographers, specialises in a unique synthesis of contemporary and Kathak dance, in which live music is an integral feature of the work. - Please see website for further details: www.balbirsinghdance.co.uk
Decreasing Infinity, a male duet created by Balbir Singh, draws on both Kathak (a north Indian classical dance style) and contemporary dance. Starting in their purest forms, seen through abstract mirrors, the mutual attraction of two distinct forms brings them to a collision in which both cease to exist; rather, something new is formed. The dynamic male duet is accompanied by the intense rhythms of live tabla and human beatbox. - Article 19 feature on Decreasing Infinity:
Decreasing Infinity has toured successfully around England and performed at both Dublin Dance Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it featured as Guardian Pick of the Week. It will be performing at different festivals over the next two years, and forms part of a triple bill of BSDC works for international touring in 2013.
BSDC welcomes applications from professional dancers with a minimum of 3 years vocational training, regardless of style or previous Kathak experience. Selected applicants will be invited to audition. - Application deadline: Friday 3rd February 2012
